Fordson WOT or Ford WOT was a series of trucks made during World War II at the Ford factory near London. The abbreviation WOT stands for War Office Trucks. The vehicles were in production from 1939 to 1945. In total, approximately 130,000 copies were made, of which the WOT2 made up almost half.
Fordson was originally the name the Ford family had given to a separate company dedicated to the manufacture of tractors. Fordson was a contraction of Henry Ford & Son. All shares of this company were owned by the Ford family. The Ford Motor Company also had shareholders outside the family. Fordson was also that name used for Ford commercial vehicles. As World War II approached, Ford was also asked to manufacture vehicles for the British Army. The series of vehicles that resulted from this was the Ford WOT or Fordson WOT series.
